| Yeah, new blogging starts NOW.
I am officially TESOL certified as of yesterday. This certification,
TESOL standing for "Teachers of English to Speakers of Other
Languages", means that I can now teach English in any country in the
world other than North and South Korea. And maybe most European
countries wouldn't hire me because I'm not European enough to begin
with. But my grandpa was German! And apparently Dutch and Swedish or something.
Anyhow, Chad and myself took the class together, which is really a huge
step in the right direction. We plan on teaching in Japan together, so
we'll see how it all works out.
Lucky for us, our instructor is a bit Japanese, and just came back from
teaching there for two years. She spent most of her time talking about
how wonderful Japan was, and while it probably annoyed the other
students, it was very helpful for Chad and me. She also gave us a
mini-lesson-plan in Japanese. We all did one. Mine was awful. But I
don't feel so bad because I went first of 12. Here's what we still have to do before departure:
1. Complete online specialization courses. I chose "Teaching Children" and "TOEFL Preparation".
2. Obtain passports. I've never had one, don't know how to get one, and
don't know how long it will take. Not too long hopefully.
3. Start applying overseas. May have to go with NOVA. Blech.
4. Save about $4,000.
5. Umhhmm... Pack?
6. Hopefully, be done all of this and have a job lined up for around September/October.
It's coming up soon, and we're getting really excited. It's going to be sweet.
I'll be starting boxing soon, which should be fun. And hopefully try to
fit a second job in somehow. YouTube is ruining my life! I get the
impression that everyone's already past the YouTube phase, I'm just
kind of trailing behind. Furthermore, I'm shamefully getting into
myspace. Chad's been with the "social networking" for a while now, and
it's easy to laugh but... yeah it is really good for finding music.
Wow people, blogging is hard work. We'll see if I keep it up again.

| Oh my! Where to begin. I haven't made any sort of personal acknowledgements in the longest time, lots has happened since my last entry. It also happens that for a good while I stopped using my camera. But thanks to Chad, and probably Lindsay for letting me use his computer, I have started uploading tonnes of pictures, and some old ones too. I'm working at the head office of a large chain of northern Canadian general merchandise and grocery stores. I live at home with my mother and my sister, which I am loving right now. Not paying rent is probably the most kick-assest luxury, and it's much better if you like the people you are living with. So other than working and going out, I'm not doing much these days. The plan is to take the infamous TESOL with Chad in, possibly Toronto, and go to Japan to teach English for hopefully a year. So until then, I'm just enjoying having little to no responsibility. I've been seeing lots of old friends lately, which is really nice. And I will be 20 in 6 days, which is exciting, but only because I'm having a big birthday party (i really mean party, it's at Topo Gigio's), thanks to Cheryl's persistence. That's it for now, I'm boring myself.

| It's been almost a year since I last posted, it's time to return to regular entries. I've made all my old posts private, email me if you want access to them.
Cheers to a new year, and with my birthday very near, a new life. | | |
